One of David’s “Endangered Confederate Memorials” is his own tribute to one of his ancestors who was a member of the Richmond Howitzers. Apparently when David began to build this monument out of scrap wood from work his neighbors call the local building officials and complained that he was building the structure without the proper permits. It turns out that David’s monument to his ancestor is really just a “Garden structure with yard art” and he did not need a building permit.
I am not sure how David considers this a threatened monument. His neighbors may not like it but nowhere does it say or imply that anyone has requested that Tatum remove the private monument. The only reference to complaints besides the building permit comes from David himself when he states in the finest of Queens English…
“Heck my monument wont even finished and folks were cryin about it !”

Why do you have it in for David? BTW, using “wont” for “wasn’t” is a colloquialism. Southerners use vernacular speech a lot, even in writing.

You are not providing facts plain and simple. You are stating your opinion. As for the Reidsville monument being in an unprotected place — it stood there without harm for over 100 years. As for the drunk that hit it, it may not have been deliberate, but what has happened since is cowardly kowtowing to political correctness.

My poor grammar is in the form of type-o’s, quick typing and lack of proof reading in a comment section of a blog but David’s “Wont” is just bad grammar and he is proud of it.

When I made the post I was using my cell phone and did not see that small detail. You have my sincerest apology. However, anyone can do a Google search of your name and white pages to find your address. It is not sensitive information. Nonetheless, I am sorry.

The IP on my truck went to a log in page , once there you needed to put in a username and pass word in order to get any further. It did not connect you in any way ! I should have left it as it was, but I gave you my word I would alter it and I did so !

Sure , My monument ! The woman who complained was from Boston, and just like you she had a serious problem with anything Confederate ! But she couldn’t complain about it being a “Confederate” monument, so she tried the building permit thing ! Well that didn’t work !
A funny side note ? Right after her complaining I started collecting and firing Cannons, You know “BOOM”
She called the police, they came to my house to investigate ! I have the books on Black Powder Cannon Regulations, State, Federal and City. I live outside the city limits that prohibit such things, so I showed the PD the regulations, then gave em a demonstration. “BOOM” they loved it !
So between the hours of 7am and 9pm I can fire em all I want ! I’m Not breaking any laws !
