No Time to Blog

I know my readership is low but I must admit that during the last month of school, blogging has taken a back seat to my duties at school.  I hope that this summer will allow more time to blog either here or on the new WWII blog…Blogging the Deuce.

New WWII Blog

It is usually during this part of the year that my attention is torn between the Civil War and WWII.  So in order to try and do both, I have started a new WWII blog called: Blogging the Deuce

Off Topic: Sounds

I happen to drive about 45 minutes one way to work each day and I also spend about an hour and a half doing a rural paper route four days a week and I have plenty of time to listen to the radio.  In the mornings, I usually listen to the Bob and Tom Show.  One thing Tom is always mentioning is the sounds that we used to hear but due to changes in technology we no longer here them.  So, the other night as I was winding an alarm clock to make sure I woke up in the morning due to the thunder snow we were having and I began to think about all the sounds we do not hear anymore or very often.

The tick of a clock

The clack of a typewriters keys

The ring of a telephone…you know, the old dial phone sound.

Teachers may notice this one, the turning sound of the pages in a book. The Internet is sure changing things.

Post a comment if you can think of other sound we no longer hear!

Now this is a Hate Crime!

Here is an article in the Chicago Sun-Times that is truely a Hate Crime, not some white kids painting the faces and hands of soldiers on a confederate monument and mentioning Nat Turner.

"Do not, I pray, admit those who have slaughtered half a million of our countrymen, until their clothes are dried and until they are re-clad. I do not wish to it side by side with men whose garments smell of the blood of my kindred." Thaddeus Stevens in Congress, 1866
The Storm Cometh-we hope the infatuated rebels like the appearance of the northern horizon. The storm of patriotism may shortly become the hurricane of vengeance, and they have only themselves to thank... Those who sow the wind must reap the whirlwind. Milwaukee Sentinel Editorial Saturday, April 20, 1861
